We teach esoteric science, practically and theoretically, with reference to the Western Esoteric Tradition and the Mystical Qabalah. We do not teach any single religion, philosophical perspective or psychological system as "the truth".
Rather, we seek to help our students find wisdom and truth, for themselves on their own chosen paths, which may be religious or non-religious. We respect, and are open to learn from, all paths of Light and Spiritual Awareness that assist humanity and our evolution.
We have been teaching for over 40 years and thousands of students in 23 countries have studied with us by correspondence and in practical workshops. Many of our students have gone on to become teachers in their own right as initiates of the Western Esoteric Tradition.
Throughout the history of our school Agnostics and Gnostics, Mystics, Christians, Jewish and Hermetic Qabalists, Esotericists of many descriptions, Wiccans, Traditional Witches, Pagans, Druids, Hermeticists, Magicians and many more besides have studied with us. Tolerance and pluralism together with the exercise of discrimination and discretion are an essential part of our way of learning as each student takes full personal responsibility for the life-choices they make and the beliefs they maintain or change.
The SOL School was founded by W.E. Butler (1898-1978) and has been directed since his retirement by Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki, our present Director of Studies, and by Michael Nowicki, our Director, who head the Administration and Resources Council (ARC) that facilitates the running of the School practically on a day-to-day basis.
Our curriculum is very demanding and accepted students receive personal supervision to help them complete their studies. If students do not work in accordance with the methods agreed in their application then dismissal is usually inevitable, this is because we have a limited number of supervisors and finite resources so students who are not committed to studies cannot be supported. Several people apply to study with the SOL each week and each successful applicant is supported to the best of our ability.
We are a registered not-for-profit organisation and none of our SOL staff, or even the Directors, are paid a salary; everyone who works in the School is a volunteer.
There are a number of SOL Lodges, Ritual Magic and Study Groups in several UK and USA locations, and internationally, which can be explored and contacted through our websites. The SOL also has several Daughter Schools that work according to their own curriculums.
This portal provides administrative resources for current and prospective members of the School, as well as news and announcements for anyone who may be interested.
